Plastic Industry Material Handling & Feeding Solutions

Solutions pour l'industrie du plastique

In plastic compounding, masterbatch production, and extrusion processing, accurate and consistent material feeding is the foundation of product quality. Whether producing color masterbatch, filled compounds, reinforced engineering plastics, or recycled PCR materials, every ingredient must be delivered at precisely the right ratio.

Génial intelligent provides a complete range of loss-in-weight feeders, vacuum conveying systems, dust-free feeding stations, and automated batching solutions designed for the plastic industry.

Foire aux questions

  • How do your feeders handle glass fiber—doesn't it wear out screws very quickly?

Glass fiber is indeed highly abrasive, which is why we offer multiple wear-protection options: (1) Tungsten carbide coated screws and barrels—providing 5-10x longer service life than standard hardened steel; (2) Ceramic-lined barrels for the most aggressive applications; (3) Segmented screw design that allows replacing only the worn sections rather than the entire screw. With proper material selection, our feeders typically achieve 2-5 years of continuous service feeding 30% glass-filled compounds before needing screw replacement.

  • What's the minimum feed rate you can achieve for expensive pigments in masterbatch production?

Our micro-flow loss-in-weight feeder can reliably dose pigments at rates as low as 0.1 kg/h with ±0.5% accuracy. For ultra-low-rate applications, we use a combination of high-resolution digital load cells (1,000,000:1 resolution), vibration-isolated weighing platforms, specialized micro-screw geometries optimized for low-density pigments, and adaptive control algorithms that compensate for the very slow weight-change signal. This level of precision directly reduces pigment overuse—typically saving 3-8% on colorant costs.

  • Can your batching system handle recipes with very different material ratios—like 95% PP + 5% additives across 10 ingredients?

Yes. Our multi-feeder batching system is specifically designed for recipes with widely varying proportions. Each feeder is sized independently for its target material and feed rate—large-flow single-screw feeders for the main polymer (95%), micro-flow feeders for pigments (0.5-2%), and twin-screw feeders for fillers (5-30%). All feeders are synchronized by our central control system, which uses master-slave ratio control to maintain exact proportions even during startup, shutdown, and feed rate changes. The system supports up to 20 feeders in a single batching group.

  • What about integration with our existing twin-screw extruder—does your control system communicate with extruder controls?

Yes, full integration is standard. Our Siemens PLC-based control system communicates with extruder controls via Profibus, Profinet, Modbus TCP, or EtherNet/IP. This enables: (1) Extruder speed tracking—feed rates automatically adjust proportionally when extruder screw speed changes; (2) Cascade control—the extruder provides the master speed signal and all feeders follow in ratio; (3) Emergency stop coordination—all feeders stop simultaneously if the extruder trips; (4) Centralized HMI that displays both feeding and extrusion parameters for single-screen operator control.
